ŠESTINE BUTCHER SHOP
Igomat is a famous chain of butcher shops run by the Runtas family from Samobor. The project task was creating a new concept of a luxury delicatessen offering their own products, as well as those of other local farmers. The space is dominated by large Italian glass cabinets with fresh and processed meat displays. There’s fruits and vegetables on the counters, inviting shoppers to have a seat and taste test the products.
Specially designed signs were set up depicting functional units of the store; meat, deli meats, cheese, bread, fruits, vegetables. There is a stylized pictogram of a cow on the main wall, made in collaboration with designer Siniša Sudar. The shop's visual identity is a follow-up to the butcher shop at Zagreb's British square, with certain adjustments for the new concept and space. Muted shades and tones were used for the interior so that the products would stand out more. Nearly everything in the store was custom-made in collaboration with local craftsmen and artisans, apart from the Italian glass cabinets and ceramic tiles. The result is a unique and identifiable space where the shopper will spend more time than they would in a regular butcher shop.
